Dicho de otra manera, absorben fotones con una determinada energ\u00eda, y liberan fotones con menor energ\u00eda. Este proceso es casi inmediato, la luz es recibida y vuelta a emitir en millon\u00e9simas de segundo, por lo tanto, podemos decir que la fluorescencia dura tanto como el est\u00edmulo, ya que cuando \u00e9ste cesa, tambi\u00e9n cesa el fen\u00f3meno de fluorescencia.
